Mateo
A collection of restaurant and creative office spaces
Nestled in the evolving Arts District of Los Angeles, the Mateo Complex consists of two adjoining vintage industrial buildings, originally constructed in 1923 and recently rejuvenated. 718 Mateo offers a collection of six distinctive and flexible creative office spaces totaling 8,000 square feet, while 726 Mateo features an expansive, restaurant-ready area encompassing 6,275 square feet, complemented by a 2,200 square foot private dining patio. With a blend of old-world charm and modern utility, the Mateo Complex stands as a testament to adaptive reuse and creative revitalization within a vibrant urban setting.
To revitalize the Mateo Complex, Ofir Design created a branding strategy that blended historic and contemporary elements. We developed a visual system integrating the vintage industrial character with modern design. The branding used craft paper textures and collage techniques, symbolizing the merger of past and present. This approach extended to a responsive website and cohesive print materials, capturing the complex’s artistic spirit. The design repositioned the complex as a premier destination for creative professionals and gastronomic ventures, reflecting its heritage and future potential.
